Baseball America Magazine Cover & Ad Spreads
Every year, Wilson ballglove receives ad space in the Baseball America magazine for a cover & several ad spreads. My designs were chosen for March 2023, and February 2025.
CREATIVE CONCEPT
A Battle of Hierarchy
Baseball America is a chance for the brand to tie itself to the major league, without being an official partner. So it was essential that the players were easily recognizable. Our stakeholders also wanted the players to be in action, showing the in-game use of the Wilson glove. To do this, heroic player images were juxtaposed with in-action shots.
The secondary emphasis was also to highlight branding, player-specific headlines, and utilize color.
The CHALLENGE
Hide the Logos
As Wilson is not the official glove of the MLB, our challenge was to create a solution to replace MLB logos from players uniforms.
THE SOLUTION
Team Wilson
Removing the logos completely looked too empty, and placing graphic elements over branding was not always possible for every design.
Our solution: MLB logos were carefully replaced with Wilson logos. This was a way to unify all signed partners to the brand, as well as minimize recognition that the MLB logos aren’t actually there.
